Women Holler! Jurors: Pauline Houston McCall and Sheena Garcia

Art In City Hall, an initiative of the City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, presents NOW! A collaborative group exhibition, NOW! features the work of 17 female and female-identifying artists members from the Women’s Caucus for Art – Philadelphia Chapter (WCA Philly)– a women artists advocacy group – and Women Holler! – a grassroots, Philadelphia-based support network for multi-racial female artists.

Freedom’s Journal: The Art of Jerry Pinkney

Master watercolorist and renowned illustrator, Jerry Pinkney (born 1939) is celebrated worldwide. The exhibition, Freedom’s Journal will include approximately eighty-five of the artist’s illustrations, focusing on the subject of civil rights and the pursuit of freedom. A robust schedule of lectures and events, many of them with participation by the artist himself, will take place through the run of the exhibition.

Schomburg Symposium

This year’s symposium focuses on the social perceptions and construction of beauty and how these influence our understanding, acceptance, and emotional responses to race.

Since 1997, The Annual Arturo A. Schomburg Symposium explores different aspects of the complex relationship of the African diaspora to Latin American culture. With presentations by distinguished scholars, this event offers the opportunity to deepen knowledge and understanding, foster dialogue, and educate audiences and speakers alike

Y.P.C. Youth Artist Program Podcast

YAP is developing a Podcast and meets every Friday. Youth Artists interested please contact Mr. Daniel de Jesús to discuss the contribution to the audio program. The Podcast is projected to premiere its first season March 8 as a weekly show.
