Greetings, teachers, and teaching artists
It is my pleasure to announce that we are officially accepting films for the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival’s Youth Salon on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
The Youth Salon is an annual showcase and day of workshops for youth filmmakers 22 years of age and younger. We at the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival look to provide an opportunity for youth and teaching artists to share student work on our platform that reaches an international audience right in the city of Philadelphia.
There are two ways in which you can apply. The first would be to go to our website www.PHLAFF.org and go to the Youth Salon Tab, where you will find our link to Film Freeway but also a Google Form created explicitly for Teaching Artists and Educators who teach and or manage film programs.
The link will allow you up to 10 films to submit. You are more than welcome to provide more than ten movies, but you will have to create a new application to do so. The eligibility for submission is listed below in this email.
Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 8, 2020

ELIGIBILITY
The Youth Salon is looking for submissions by youth under 22 years of age who are Latin American, of Latin American heritage, or identify as Latino or Latinx who has at least one of the following roles in the making of the film;
Writer
Actor
Director
Producer
Editor
Non-English language works must have English subtitles at the time submitted.
TEACHERS
We invite Instructors of film programs and teaching artists to submit on behalf of their students. We invite you to visit our Google form to send your films instead of using Film Freeway. Click on our link at the very top of this page and follow the instructions. Our guidelines are the same.
GUIDELINES
- Films (or excerpts) should not exceed 20 minutes
- No submission fee for films submitted to the Youth Salon.
- Each film submitted and accepted for screening will require parental consent for any youth under 18 unless you are a youth having your film submitted by a teacher at your school.
